The spectral type probably derives ultimately from a Case objective-prism
plate. The type M8 is reported (not necessarily for the first time) in
Kwok et al. 1997 ApJ Suppl 112,557, which includes Bidelman as a co-author.
I note that the 12/25mu IRAS flux ratio (~1.75) is about right for an AGB-type
star, and that it is an IRC source (infrared survey from the 1960s), where
the star is mag. 3 at K. Also there's more recent JHKLM photometry in
Fouque et al. (1992 A&ASuppl 93,151) who give K=2.25 and J-K=1.46. Other
papers in the SIMBAD biblio suggest it is being observed as a dusty AGB star,
or OH/IR star.
