    Before stacking (even if it eventially turns out to be unavoidable),
please try to put the aperture or PSF on the calculated coordinates of
the variable and get counts, even if they may be negative.  These relative
counts of the variable (to the comparison) can be later stacked, or phase
averaged, to get both better statistics and high time-resolution.  This is
the well-established technique in such faint, and rapidly varying objects.
We strongly prefer individual data points.
