Would it be possible for (the no doubt already overburdened) VSNET pages
to carry a page of CV eclipse elements, specifically Heliocentric Julian
Date and Period in day decimal format?
I know the site produces ephemerides when appropriate, but this too
would be useful.
I'm aware that an English version of a Russian text containing these
exists, but not everybody will have copies of these.
Also, webpages are more amenable to corrections and updated data.
For instance, I try to remember to have an EM Cyg ephemeris ready for
the BAAVSS website once a year (see VSNET other links section for link
to said site), but the elements are quite old and I've no idea if better
ones exist.
On EM Cyg: a few years ago I used to watch out for this object's
eclipses during outbursts as part of a UK campaign engendered by
comments made by Brian Warner about it being the only eclipsing UGZ
stars known then.
I was always a bit dubious about its 'standstills', as they seemed to
last such a short time that I wondered how they could be distinguished
as such! Especially as at that time RX And seemed to be in permanent
standstill, and the type star, Z Cam, would go into one at the slightest
excuse!
Does anyone know of any past _long_ term standstills of EM Cyg? I must
confess I haven't observed it for a while, so would have missed any
recent ones.
Cheers
John
