Hi, this is a follow-up on the discussions that were
posted here last April -- May. I'd like to bring you
all to attentions that Kris Davidson et al. has publised
a paper concerning the recent brightening of Eta Carinae
in Astronomical Journal, 1999, volume 118, pg. 1777. It
contains the points why we feel the recent brightening
was (or is, you people tell me!) very peculiar and not anything
ordinary, on contrary to what the other professional
astronomers argued (cf. Sterken et al. A&A, 1999). Also
I had my advisor (Kris Davidson) recognized the importance
of the activities by those amateur astronomers in the paper.
I for one am quite impressed by these dedicated amateurs who
can perform consistent observations for a long, long period of
time.
Cheers to all of you,
Bish Ishibashi
