[vsnet-chat 2188] v735 Sgr

Continuing a thread started by Kato-san on June 13,
I have observed the field of V735 Sgr on two occasions
during July. The field photometry of this region can
be found on my anon ftp site as v735sgr.dat.
The star identified by Vogt and Bateson
has coordinates (USNO-A1.0 since 2.0 is confused in the Bulge)
and magnitudes of
    RA (J2000) DEC V B-V verr bverr
17:59:52.03 -29:34:01.7 14.763 0.890 0.043 0.001

The star identified by Martha Hazen on inspection
of the Luyten Bruce proper motion plates is
    RA (J2000) DEC V B-V verr bverr
17:59:51.79 -29:33:55.7 14.646 0.817 0.163 0.027
(about 7 arcsec NW of the Vogt and Bateson star).
Note that this star has much larger V magnitude error
and is therefore most likely variable, confirming Luyten
(and Martha's identification as well).
Samus suggested the A2.0 star about 15arcsec north of
this position was suspiciously blue. My measures show
a normal red star at this position, so the
crowded nature of this field has probably confused A2.0.
The Luyten star is not particularly blue, even considering
reddening (there are several stars bluer than this one).
Its classification remains to be determined.
