G'day all,
There seem to have been a lot of recent novae - like Nova Mus 98 - that
fell like brick balloons after discovery. In fact, fading faster than
some dwarf novae do; so if you have a bad weather week you may miss them
completely!
Consequently I would guess that the discovery statistics are not good,
unless the sky is being examined several times per week.
I'm beginning to wonder if these objects are true "classical" novae, or
just very infrequent dwarf novae? Is there a real distinction between a
Fast Nova and an Infrequent Dwarf Nova?
cheers,
Fraser Farrell
