Dear Jan,
What must have happened, I suspect, is that the 'VSNET' (or USNO A1.0)
measures have integrated the photons of the nearby dwarf galaxy with
those of the 133 star.

Berto

The VSNET chart of NGC6754 ( SNdq) has proved to be most useful, but
there
seems to be one peculiarity.
The nearest star N-W of 6754 is shown with a magnitude of 11.06.
Guide 6
also shows an object of comparable magnitude (although classified as
a
"non-star") , mag. 11.4 (GSC 83871803). However, a little beyond,
and
approximately where the small galaxy is located, is a star of mag.
13.3
(GSC 83831173) and this in fact is the only star which is actually
seen
through the telescope. There is no sign whatever of a 11 magnitude
object.
What might have happened? A variable star? Some other object (maybe
moving) in that position when the area was photographed? A
misidentification? Any suggestions?
