Deep-sky: IC 1613 Cepheid While checking my potential target list of the old times, I noticed the extragalactic Cepheid which I considered a challenge for amateur visual variable star observing. The target is in IC 1613, the member of the Local Group, and has a period of 146 days (remember the period-luminosity relation). IC1613V45: 010500.7 +021043 (2000.0) DCEP 17.7 20.4 28058.3 146.35 38 K2I V22 This object, well within the reach of modern CCDs, may be the most distant Cepheid visible to human eyes through large telescopes. Though M31 Cepheids are slightly more distant, the bright galaxy background may interfere. Won't someone try? Regards, Taichi Kato
