Dear SN watchers,

Lick's rush continues! According to IAUC 6993, the SBc galaxy MCG
-01-4-44 has produced a supernova, which discovered by Lick group
using KAIT telescope. Its location is R.A. = 1h26m13s.97, Decl. =
-6o06'14".0 (2000.0), which is about 14" west and 37" south from the
core of the galaxy.  Reported magnitudes are;

Aug. 17.5 >18.5:
Aug. 22.5  16.8:
Aug. 23.4  16.5: (unfiltered CCD)

It seems to be on very early phase. If it is a typical type Ia SN,
its maximum would be 14 mag or so (vsnet-chat 1178). Spectroscopy and
type determination has not been performed. Followup photometry would
be encouraged. USNO-A1.0 based chart is available at upper link.

Sincerely Yours,
Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan
