[vsnet-chat 1108] USNO A1.0 comparisons

Dear Taichi,

A while ago you derived following equation for converting USNO A1.0
magnitudes to
V magnitudes: V = r + 0.375*(b-r)

Can one apply this equation only for certain star fields or can one use it
throughout the entire sky? You gave an example for the SW UMa and IR Gem field.
Are there any restrictions for the range of b-r?
Is the resulting sequence more homogeneous than magnitudes given in the GSC
or is it only interesting because one can obtain more and much fainter
comparison stars?

Best Regards,
Eric
