About SN 1980I;
I have searched the position of SN 1980I on DSS2 image. Exactly,
there seems not exist a host galaxy.
However, there exists neibour galaxies. NGC 4387 is the nearest:
4'.7 apart. NGC 4374 = M84 is the second: 8'. NGC 4406 in the third:
about 9'. Note that M84 produced SN 1957B (regular Ia) and, oh, 1991bg
(sub-luminus SN Ia)! There may exist some keys....
On the Virgo distance, 1' is equivalent to about 5kpc. NGC 4374 and
4406 are seems to be large E galaxies, but the star 35kpc apart from
the core may not be a member....
