Dr. Kato already posted about theoretical aspect.
So, I write about my observation.
I don't know weather my observation matched to standard system well or not,
because transformation to standard system of emission objects is difficult.
But B-V and V-R around 0.5 seem to be common for early stage of slow nova.
(for example V723 Cas cf. Light curve of V723 Cas in Vsnet web site.)
V-R is usually smaller than B-V for common stars.
H alpha emission night be dominant in Rc band photometry of novae.
