I agree that different sequence causes scatter.
But I don't know whether AAVSO sequence is the best or not?
I think sequence of each AAVSO charts was made from various sources (references).
And even chart of famous star, such as SS Cyg, revised many times during long time.
And zero point of magnitude is somewhat difference between charts.
I know that there are many homogenous data based on AAVSO sequence and these data were good to study longtime behavior of each
star.
But some heterogeneity in AAVSO sequence (and also charts made by other organizations) makes difficult to compare behavior of
each variable stars.
I think we need to more accurate charts and it is good opportunity to discuss about new sequences.
I hope AAVSO chart committee and collaborators in other variable star organization around world make good charts.
