Within the quoted error of the position of the possible nova, I could
find only one (suspected) variable star.

This is a new variable star detected by Hipparcos, having an unknown
type classification. The color (B-V=0.26) suggests an early-type star,
while the IRAS fluxes are rather unusual (strongest at 100micron).
I wonder weather any spectrocopic observation exists for this star, and whether there is any possibility of a two-mag outburst in
this class of object.
