[vsnet-chat 500] about the new variable close to M27

has anyone checked the Palomar infrared charts (those exposed
along the Milky Way) ?
If a red giant variable, on those charts it should stand out clearly.
In a couple of weeks I will have the B&C+CCD spectrograph again mounted
on the 1.82 m and if by that time the situation will still be obscure
I could try to find spare 10 minutes to secure a spectrum of the object
and contribute some firm information.
Gianluca should provide a fine and deep chart (5 arcmin on a side)
with the new variable properly labelled and accurate coordinates.
