G'day Taichi (and others),

>correctly).
I have not been able to find any more information about the circumstances of
this discovery (Comet Kaho-Kozik-Lis 1936III), apart from what has appeared in
vsnet-chat. Does anyone know the full story?
Albert has sent me the story of the discovery of Comet Jones (1946VI).
I hope, Albert, that the box in your story has been preserved for historical
purposes! :)
The story of Comet Tilbrook has now been picked up by our national radio and TV
networks; so (sadly) we can look forward to more misquotes of Justin's words.
Most Australian journalists come from the "thick as a brick" - sorry, I should
say "logically under-enhanced" - demographic... :(
Incidentally, Justin's advice to any accidental finders of comets is:
(1) Notify the discovery to CBAT, etc.
(2) Wait for the official announcement in the IAU Circulars.
(3) Find a quiet desert to hide in until the mass media lose interest in
the story.
His observing - and daytime job - keeps getting interrupted by reporters and he
will be glad when the fuss dies down!
cheers,
Fraser Farrell
