[vsnet-chat 476] Re: Pictor 416 + Pictor 201

Dear Astro-friend!

At our observatory we got 2 CCD-cameras from Meade.
They were intended to use with observing variable stars:

Meade Pictor 416:
This model has given us a great deal of troubles with the shutter. We
have opened the camera and have found that the 2 blades of the shutter is
made of the same material as used for printed circuit boards. This
material seems not to be steady - in our case the blades have been bent
and the shutter will not work!
Have any of you got the same problem?
Do anybody know if the shutter-blades is been made of metal in the new
model Pictor 416XT?
If you have a solution to solve the problem we should like to hear from you - Thank you!

Meade Pictor 201
This is the older model. Do you think it is a good idea to get it
opgraded to the new model 201XT in order to "see" fainter stars for
autoguiding?
Have anybody of you got experience with using Pictor 201 in connetion with
stepping motors (mounting is built at the observatory)? Is it necessary to use the Meade
#520 Electronic Relay?

Does anybody have the address and e-mail-address of
        1. Donald Parker, Florida and
        2. Jack Newton?
as I know they both have experience with Meade CCD cameras.

Tank you for helping us!

Clear Skies!!!
