[vsnet-chat 206] variable stars in M5

While checking Leos Ondra's new variable star in the field of M27
(cf. vsnet-alert 799 and http://vsnet.sci.muni.cz/~ondra/gl/gl.html),
I have noticed Ondra's article on W Vir variables in the globular
cluster M5. Recalling I once observed these stars (M5 V42 and M5 V84)
visually by 10-cm and 20-cm reflectors between 1985 and 1990, I have been
tempted to reanalyze my records.

The best periods determined by PDM are:

   M5 V42 : P = 25.734 d
   M5 V84 : P = 26.708 d

The results have basically confirmed Coutts and Hogg's finding of
their period changes (quoted in Leos Ondra's artcile at the URL
http://seds.pl.arizona.edu/messier/xtra/leos/M005Leos.html).

The phase averaged light curves of these stars are given at the URL
