Am I correct to interpret this as the effect of different wavelength
response of diurnal vision to the V-band? I first thought the reported
effect was caused by the diurnal sensitivity of the eye under strongly
light-polluted sky of Japan which usually disables dark adaptation.
I also thought of chromatic abberation of the eye, which in near-sighted
vision will produce a better focused image of a redder star.
