V699 Oph: sudden period decrease

Dear Colleagues,

   The VSNET Collaboration has received new data from Peter Nelson and
Sano-san. The new data show smooth superhumps without a hint of secondary
maxima. The new data now indicate a rather abrupt change in the superhump
period during the past two days. The mean period up to now is 0.07022 d,
but this should be treated as a simple average for the entire observing
period. Further observations are decisively neede to see whether the
superhump period change continues, or the change was a rather stepwise
phenomenon. Although the moonlight may interfere, the object is worth
observing even against the observing condition (see discussions in
vsnet-campaign-ccd-discussion regarding the photometry software matters;
you will probably get higher-precision data even under difficult conditions
than what you may have thought).

Regards,
Taichi Kato
VSNET Collaboration team
