[vsnet-campaign-dn 1364] WZ Sge V-band data from RIT Obs, Aug 25 UT now available

Jim Kern and I collected about 6.5 hours of data on WZ Sge in V-band
from Aug 25.03 UT to Aug 25.30 UT. The night was good, and the data
look fine. WZ Sge declined by about 0.20 mag during the period
of observation, and showed sharp eclipses.

As usual, you can find a page describing the data at

     http://spiff.rit.edu/richmond/ritobs/aug25_2001/aug25_2001.html

and the measurements themselves at

     http://spiff.rit.edu/richmond/ritobs/aug25_2001/wzsge_aug25ut.dat

There is a warning about slight saturation of star "A" = HD 191083.
In order to conform to our other data, we report differential magntiudes

            (mag WZ - mag A)

However, we did NOT use star A directly as a comparison, because it was
close to saturation. We removed it from the ensemble of stars used
as comparisons, but did keep track of its brightness. The measurements
of WZ are free from any error due to star A. We simply used the mean
value of star A, compared to the ensemble of good comparison stars,
as the zero-point for reporting differential magnitudes. The difference

            (star B - star A)

was the same in last night's data as in all our other data,
to within the measurement uncertainties, so I think this is a reasonable
way to report the data (and it will certainly make the job of incorporating
it into the big collection easier).

                                                  Michael Richmond

p.s. Skies are clear an hour before sunset in Rochester, but the
forecast is for clouds soon. I doubt I'll be able to collect
any good data tonight, but I'll try.
