With reference to the information on the transient IGR J16318-4848 given in IAUC 8076, images around the original position, made at the Bronberg Observatory (CBA-Pretoria) on 4 and 8 Feb 2003 were studied around the stated position. A clear optical source was detected on those images at a constant brightness as measured against UCAC1 magnitudes of nearby stars. IGR J16318-4848 20030204.08 17.3CR IGR J16318-4848 20030208.10 17.3CR Astrometry vs the UCAC1 frame located the centre of the optical counterpart at (2000) 16 31 48.47 -48 49 00.6 Note: this source is clearly shown on DSS images of generation 2-ir but not on 2-red. This statement applies as well to some other sources picked up on the Bronberg images. That's why none of the sources weren't announced initially as possible counterparts of the Integral detection.
