PU Per rare outburst (and V344 Ori) Mike Simonsen reports that PU Per (SU UMa-type dwarf nova: see Kato and Matsumoto (1999) IBVS 4765) is undergoing a rare, bright outburst. The Kyoto team (observers: R. Ishioka and M. Uemura) managed to take time-series photometry of the both objects last night. The result of analysis will be reported later. Please make as long observations of these objects as possible!! The last reported outburst of PU Per occurred in 1998 September. The large outburst amplitude and long recurrent time suggest that the object may be related to WZ Sge-type stars (see Kato et al. (2001) PASJ 53, 1191). V344 Ori is an unusual dwarf nova which underwent an exceptionally bright outburst in 2000 January (the present magnitude is not as bright as in 2002 January).
