Confrming Mike Linnolt's confirmation ;-)
I observed a star in the stated position, estimated at mag 5.8 in 7x50 binoculars
at 0625 UTC 21 September. Sequence used was on the AAVSO 'a' chart for R Sgr,
specifically the 5.6 comp star east of the nova and the 6.0 comp star northeast.
I'm an air traffic controller at HNL, working the 3-11 shift, so I had to print
a chart off the AAVSO website, steal a pair of binoculars from the tower, and
run to a dark corner of the parking lot to see it.
Back to talking to planes now!
Aloha,
