Nova Sgr 2002 No. 2: image from Berto Monard
We have received a close-up CCD image from Berto Monard. The images is
posted at:
http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/pub/vsnet/Novae/nova_sgr02-2/mon16.gif
Also available from
http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Novae/nsgr02-2.html
[We have also posted Giambersio's wide field image and close-up chart].
Berto Monard reports:
---
I made the following observation / differential photometry vs a Tycho star.
N Sgr02/2 020916.700 72CR
this may indicate a reddened nova (MW dust absorption possibly).
---
A preliminary comparison of the image with the chart indicates that
the true position of the nova is somewhat east to the Liller's updated
position. There is no chance that the nova can be associated with the
IRAS/MSX5C source as previously suggested. Further astrometry is keenly
in progress by Yamaoka-san.

Taichi Kato
