U Gem outburst fading The current outburst of U Gem is fading rather rapidly, in spite of the long preceding quiescence period. The outburst may by terminated by this fade, but the 1985 outburst of U Gem (another outburst preceded by a long quiescence) was probably associated with a dip during the outburst. Detailed follow-up observations are encouraged in order to see whether a similar phenomenon happens. As all observers may know, the visual comparison star sequence for U Gem has a problem (esp. for old ones). Accurate photometry with CCD is also very helpful to eliminate the effect caused by different comparison stars. YYYYMMDD(UT) mag observer 20010430.492 91 (M. Ooishi) 20010430.810 94 (P. A.
