Here is the original note from "Mark", whose last name I do not know. I suspect, assuming he's observed the SN, that his drawing is merely not "astrometric"! To: amastro <amastro@egroups.com> From: Mark <deepsky@usmo.com> Date: Thu, 25 Jan 2001 21:34:31 -0600 Subject: [amastro] M95 Hi everyone, Early this morning I made a drawing of m95 using a 40" f/5 dob. When I later compared that drawing with the dss image I noticed I placed a star of about mag. 15 where no star is located in the photo. I'm not the most experienced observer in the world and probably drew a star where there is none. But if anyone gets a chance to take a look at m95 tonight see if you can make out a star at about 10h 44m 6.1s, +11 42' 51". This puts it about 2.1' from the nucleus about p.a. 77 according to megastar. Thanks. Mark ========================== In a more recent message, he says the date was Jan 25.39 UT. The guy is using a 1-meter Newtonian visually, so it is reasonable for him to be seeing well past mag. 15. Thanks for the report, Wei-Dong. \Brian
