Hi all,
I just sent this comment to the people at CBAT.

Oggetto:
A note about the possible Nova in M31 (NGC224)
Data:

Da:

Sirs,
following our alert note about a possible Nova in M31 (NGC224) at
coordinates R.A. = 00h42m 57.2s, Decl. = +41d07'18" (Equinox 2000.0) we
would like to inform you that we received the following note from Fred
Ewalt (Greyrocks Observatory, East Killingly, Northeastern Connecticut,
USA) via D. Bishop:
"In reference to the request from Giovanni Sostero (Remanzacco
Observatory) for any recent images for the central region of M-31,
please be advised that I imaged this area on 09/05/2000 and again on
10/24/2000. I was not specifically looking for NOVAs, but building a
multi-frame mosiac. I cannot find any evidence of an object at 00h42m
57.2s +41d07'18" in the image taken 09/05/2000 but there is a "possible"
stellar object dimmer than magnitude 18 at this position in the
10/24/2000 image. The frames
were taken through my LX200 25cm (10") S/C f/6.3 scope operating at
f/4,
for a FOV of 35.5' X 35.5'. at a resolution of 4.16 arcseconds per
pixel. My observatory's position is LA 41-51N, LO 71-48W."
We would also notice that a SIMBAD database interrogation has not given
any entry within 15 arcsec of the given position. The nearest variable
star known has coordinates: R.A. = 00h42m54.2s, Decl. = +41d07'40"
(equinox 2000.0). The GCVS (4th Edition-Kholopov+,1988) hasn't any entry
within 30 arcsec of the given position.
We are trying to alert some professional astronomers equipped with
suitable instrumentation in order to collect a spectra of this object.
Best regards,
Giovanni Sostero
