Two new KAIT SNe Date: Tue, 3 Oct 2000 03:09:10 -0700 (PDT) From: weidong li <weidong@urania.Berkeley.EDU> Subject: Two new KAIT SNe Hi all, Here is a report of two SNe we just reported to IAUC. Have fun, Weidong +++++++++++++++++++++ Hi Dan, Here are the info for two new SNe discovered by KAIT. Cheers, Weidong ----------------------------------------- SN 2000xxx in CGCG 387-047 A. B. Aazami and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on behalf of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search (cf. IAUC 6627, 7126) with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT), report the discovery of an apparent supernova in CGCG 387-047. The SN was discovered and confirmed on unfiltered images taken on Oct 1.4 UT and Oct 3.3 UT, respectively, both with magnitude about 18.5. An earlier image on Sep 19.4 UT also showed a hint of the SN. The new object is located at R.A. = 2h08m20s.98, Decl. = +1o11'00".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 11".4 east and 2".2 south of the nucleus of CGCG 387-047. A KAIT image of the same field on Sep 12.4 UT showed nothing at the position of the SN (limiting mag about 19.0). ------------------------------------------- SN 2000xxx in NGC 1139 S. Beckmann and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on behalf of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search (cf. IAUC 6627, 7126) with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT), report the discovery of an apparent supernova in NGC 1139. The SN was discovered and confirmed on unfiltered images taken on Oct 2.4 UT and Oct 3.4 UT, respectively, both with magnitude about 16.8. The new object is located at R.A. = 2h52m44s.41, Decl. = -14o31'54".7 (equinox 2000.0), which is 34".1 west and 8".3 south of the nucleus of NGC 1139. A KAIT image of the same field on Sep 21.4 UT showed nothing at the position of the SN (limiting mag about 18.5). ---------------------------------------------
