Subject: [vsnet-campaign 0] RX J2315.5-3049 outburst

Dear all,

this source has been independently found in the Calan-Tololo
objective prism plate survey. From follow-up photometry and
spectroscopy we have found an orbital period of 0.058 day.
The quiescent light curve of the source is very similar to
that of WZ Sge, including a narrow ~0.3 mag eclipse (which
in the case of WZ Sge is probably an eclipse of the hot spot).
Given the short orbital period this source is most likely a
SU UMa type dwarf novae and superhumps should be detected if
this is a superoutburst.

Regards,

Thomas Augusteijn
