As long as the new star is in the range of the GSC, I note that in this
field the GSC magnitudes are only about 0.1 mag. brighter than standard V.
Thus visual observers can use them simply by adjusting magnitudes fainter
by 0.1.
SInce they are fairly close to V, the GSC magnitudes are farther from
Cousins R, differing by about +0.26 (GSC too faint). Thus for unfiltered
red-sensitive CCDs, one can adjust approximately to R by _subtracting_
0.26 mag. from results obtained differentially wrt the GSC.
