Zwitter and Munari (1996 A&A Suppl. 117, 449) have published results from spectra of this object. They find it to be a late-type star with hydrogen emission, i.e. this is a Mira, not a CV. They give the type as M4. This makes the IRAS identification certain, especially given the detection only at 12-microns, despite the very large positional error ellipse on the IRAS source. The star is basically unstudied otherwise, so clearly "needs work" from observers to establish a period. This is another good case for someone observing with a small telescope + CCD. \Brian
