[vsnet-alert 2651] GK Per probably rising to outburst

GK Per probably rising to outburst

As predicted by Tsutomu Watanabe (vsnet-future 2,
http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Mail/vsnet-future/msg00002.html),
and reported by him (vsnet-alert 2650,
http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Mail/vsnet-alert/msg02650.html),
the old nova, and at the same time the intermediate polar, GK Per is
probably rising to minor outburst.

The latest minor outburst of GK Per was reported just three years ago,
starting in late February, 1996 and ending in April. For more details
of this outburst and implications, see

Observations in all wavelengths, esp. X-rays and coordinated optical
observations following the spin period are strongly encouraged.

Taichi Kato
