AQ Eri outburst The SU UMa-type dwarf nova AQ Eri is undergoing an outburst as indicated by the following observations. YYMMDD(UT) mag observer 981206.480 <140 (P. F. Williams) 981207.492 <150 (R. Stubbings) 981207.860 <138 (E. Muyllaert) 981208.520 <153 (P. Nelson) 981209.524 <140 (P. Nelson) 981210.506 <153 (P. Nelson) 981211.444 <151 (G. Hanson) 981211.490 <145 (P. F. Williams) 981211.554 <153 (P. Nelson) 981213.558 <138 (N. Makiguchi) 981216.531 <153 (P. Nelson) 981217.250 <153 (G. Hanson) 981217.473 <153 (R. Stubbings) 981217.492 <153 (P. Nelson) 981218.332 135 (J. Hers) 981218.492 132 (R. Stubbings) Observers are urged to monitor the outburst, since no definate super- outburst of AQ Eri has been reported since 1995 November (at least to VSNET). Despite the well-established SU UMa-nature, the superhump period of AQ Eri has not been precisely determined. If the present outburst turns out to be a superoutburst, it will provide an opportunity to establish the superhump period. CCD time-resolved photometry is strongly encouraged. Regards, Taichi Kato
