Dear vsnet-alert observers,
As reported on IAUC 6800, the spectrum of SN 1997ei shows some-
what peculiar type Ia feature. The 615 nm Si II absorption is
shallower than typical type Ia SNe, and 580 nm Si II feature
is visible. These characteristics suggests that this SN would
be fast-declining and sub-luminous.
The photometric observation and the monitor how it decline are
highly urged. The present magnitude of SN 1997ei is around
16.5 mag referring to ISN page.
A happy new year!
