[vsnet-alert 151] rare outburst of BC UMa

BC UMa

Dr. J. Mattei of AAVSO communicates in AAVSO Alert Notice 210 that
BC UMa, resently confirmed SU UMa star, is undergoing a rare outburst.
The present outburst was discovered by D. York at mv=14.0 on July 6.1576.
The star brightened to mv=13.0 on July 7.2347 (data are from AAVSO Alert
210).

For observers' convenience, we have posted vsnet CCD chart to vsnet
mailing list (and will be probably stored in vsnet ftp service:
ftp.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp, in /pub/vsnet/charts).

BC UMa was first identified as a definite SU UMa-type dwarf nova
by M. Iida on 1994 Apr. 28, when he discovered superhumps with a period
of 0.0619 day. Subsequent confirmation was made by C. Kunjaya on May 2,
when the superhump period was determined as 0.0629 day (Iida in preparation,
Kunjaya in preparation, Kato et al. 1994 in poster presented at Padova CV
Conference). Time-resolved observations are also highly recommended
during the present outburst. Please post also your observations to
vsnet-obs@kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp.

Regards,
Taichi Kato
