Dear Michael, Taichi, Yasuto, and Bjorn,
On April 8.16 UT, I estimated SN 1994D's magnitude at 12.9, using
comparison stars of magnitudes 12.6 and 13.4 from AAVSO Alert Notice
182.
On April 8.17 UT, I estimated SN 1994I's magnitude at 13.1, using
comparison stars of magnitudes 13.7 and 13.5 from the Thompson and
Bryan chart for NGC 5194. I have also found the star-like nucleus
of the companion galaxy useful in detecting relative brightness
changes.
A 28 cm SCT was used for the observations, using a magnification of
373x for SN 1994D (this helps reduce the bright background of NGC 4526
as the supernova fades),and 155x for SN 1994I.
Clear skies,
William (W. G. Dillon, Missouri City, Texas, USA)
